This week I have been reflecting about why I do what I do. Why I spend my time helping and coaching others, and why I chose leadership as the foundation for my work. I discovered there are three key principles that are important to me.
First, leadership is about leading yourself, more than it is about leading others. Leadership of self is about how you find your passion and purpose. It is about how you define your values, set your priorities, and define your daily agenda. Leadership is about being the person you want to be, and being an example for others.
Second, leadership is for everyone. I truly believe that everyone can benefit from learning more about leadership. Many people don’t recognize this fact. This is what drives me to help people increase their own awareness.
Third, our attitude is set only by ourselves. We wear our attitude. It affects our daily success, and it is 100% under our control. When you increase your ability to lead yourself, you increase your capability for a positive attitude. Many times our results are a direct reflection of the attitude we carry. Remember our attitude can also be contagious to those around us!
John Maxwell said many times, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” Successful people have learned that it is a never ending journey, and that every new step increases awareness. I am glad you have learned that too.
Have a great week, and until next time, focus on your success!
